The Third Ward D is still cranking things up to eleven as the Houston Cougars are now ranked #5 in the nation in total defense at 228.8 yards per game.

The Coogs remain first in the nation in rushing defense holding opponents to an incredible 37 yards per game on the ground. There’s a huge jump to second place Air Force which is at 51.67 yards per game and third place is Pitt at 61.25. The Coogs have only allowed 148 total rushing yards and 1 rushing touchdown in four games. Houston’s scoring defense is in fourth place at 10.5 points per game.

The Houston offense isn’t too far behind in 24th place nationwide which is very good considering it’s out of 128 FBS programs. Many teams are much higher in offense but terrible in defense, such as Texas Tech which has the #2 offense and the #124 defense. No wonder Kliff is scared of Houston getting a Big 12 invite.
