The Houston Cougars had their 2016 Pro Day on Thursday and had scouts from 31 NFL teams in attendance, the only team without a presence was the Tennessee Titans (good riddance). Also, notable attendees included Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and general manager Kevin Colbert, New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator and former Raiders coach Dennis Allen, Houston Texans linebackers coach Mike Vrabel, and Minnesota Vikings defensive backs coach Jerry Gray.

Houston cornerback William Jackson III is a likely first round pick in next month’s NFL Draft and performed well will all eyes focused on him. Jackson reportedly had dinner the night before with the Steelers brass who are a likely landing spot for the Coog with the 25th pick.

Other players who looked strong were linebacker Elandon Roberts who ran a sub-4.5 40 dash and is hoping to be a second day pick. Wide receiver Demarcus Ayers was injured when he participated in February’s combine and improved on his numbers at the Pro Day. Ayers will be attending a private workout with the New England Patriots as well as the Texans’ and Cowboy’s local prospect days.
