Legendary musician and New Orleans native Dwayne “Lil’ Wayne” Carter briefly attended the University of Houston in the spring of 2005 before dropping out due to scheduling conflicts with his music career.

Wayne recently published an op-ed in The Huffington Post about how his brief time at UH inspired him to make social change. This inspiration sparked Wayne to partner with music streaming service Tidal on a college-focused philanthropy project.

Side note: Is there any other school (outside of Berklee) that had as many musicians as students as UH? Lil’ Wayne, Master P, Paul Wall, Chamillionaire, and Larry Gatlin all studied at UH at one point.
