Houston transfer Duke Catalon is primed to have a breakout season in 2016

Duke Catalon transferred from the Texas Longhorns to the Houston Cougars after the 2014 season and had to sit the 2015 on Houston’s bench due to NCAA transfer rules. Now, the sophomore from Houston’s Eisenhower High School will likely see his first action with the Coogs in 2016 and has three years of eligibility remaining.

With senior running backs Kenneth Farrow and Ryan Jackson graduating and third stringer Javin Webb being dismissed from the team, now is the perfect opportunity for a new running back to grab the starting position. Catalon will be competing with Wisconsin transfer Davon Crookshank (Edit: I forgot Crookshank is no longer on the team) and sophomore Kaliq Kokuma for the starting spot. It’s possible all three running backs may see playing time, much like Farrow split time Jackson.
