Houston’s 2016 football schedule has been released. Check it out below (home games are in bold) with some thoughts on the schedule to follow:

• 9/3 vs Oklahoma (Advocare Texas Kickoff at NRG Stadium)
• 9/10 vs Lamar
• 9/15 at Cincinnati (Thursday game on ESPN)
• 9/24 at Texas State
• 9/29 vs UConn (Thursday game on ESPN)
• 10/8 at Navy
• 10/15 vs Tulsa
• 10/22 at SMU
• 10/29 vs UCF
• 11/12 vs Tulane
• 11/17 vs Louisville (Thursday game on ESPN)
• 11/25 at Memphis (Friday game)

• 12/03 American championship game

This is a very favorable schedule for Houston. The Coogs only have three tough road games all year: Travelling to Cincinnati, Navy, and Memphis. After opening the season against Oklahoma, the only tough home games will be UConn and Louisville. If Coach Herman can get the Coogs to play at the same level in 2016 as they did in 2015, there’s no reason why this team won’t be back in the championship game.
