University of Houston alum and Coog basketball legend Reid Gettys sat down with The Weekly Brew podcast a few days ago to discuss the Coogs and also the current college basketball landscape. Gettys played on the legendary Phi Slama Jama basketball teams from 1981-85 and now does commentary for ESPN.
The Weekly Brew is run by Kevin Cook, a Coog alum and former writer for the Daily Cougar, and Austin Staton. The interview with Gettys begins at about the 38 minute mark (the rest of the podcast is on the Super Bowl and worth a listen). You can listen via the embedded SoundCloud player at the bottom of the article or via the iTunes podcast here (it’s episode #28).
There’s also two other UH related podcasts they did a few months back that I enjoyed, one with current Coog coach Kelvin Sampson and one with Howard Lorch who was the team manager for Guy V. Lewis during the 1960’s. Both of these are also embedded below.
