Sterlin Gilbert, the new Longhorns OC, got his first coaching job at Houston

Sterlin Gilbert has been hired as the new offensive coordinator of the Texas Longhorns. Previously Gilbert was the Co-Offensive Coordinator, Wide Receivers and Quarterbacks Coach of the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.

Gilbert got his start in the coaching profession at the University of Houston as a graduate assistant in 2005 under coach Art Briles and coordinator Philip Montgomery, the latter would be Gilbert’s boss at Tulsa in 2015.¬†Gilbert has also been a coordinator at Bowling Green and Eastern Illinois and has spent a few seasons coaching high school football.
