The Rutgers Scarlet Knights seem to want to duplicate Houston’s 2015 success. After the Coogs had success with Tom Herman, a former Ohio State offensive coordinator, the Knights first hired Ohio State defensive coordinator Chris Ash as head coach this offseason.

Now Rutgers has reportedly hired Houston’s wide receivers coach Drew Mehringer as offensive coordinator. Full scoop from SI here. Congrats on the promotion Drew!

[Edit: Mark Berman of Fox 26 is reporting Mehringer is staying with Houston through the Peach Bowl.]

  1. So sorry to see him go as I know the players loved him and he’s a well respected up and comer. But what a testament to what is happening in Cougar land. Can’t blame other schools for wanting what we have!
