When people who’ve never been to Houston think of our city, frequently they think it’s a desert. They think the Bayou City adheres to the stereotype of Texas… which is mostly just applies to West Texas. Many people only see our city from the airports or on the freeways but never venture off the beaten path of the city. The truth is Houston is a very green city, known for it’s amazing green spaces like Memorial Park, Hermann Park, and Discovery Green. Houston actually has more parkland per person than San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City, and Chicago combined. There’s a great article here from Texas Monthly about the city of Houston became the model for greenspace for other cities. If you live here, get out and enjoy it!
