The Coogs travel up to Louisville, Kentucky this weekend to face former Conference USA and AAC rival Louisville. The Cardinals were in the Conference USA alongside Houston from 1996 until 2004 before leaving for the Big East. The two teams were both in the American conference in 2013 before Louisville departed for the ACC the next season.
Interesting note: Louisville’s starting quarterback for Saturday’s game against Houston will be true freshman Lamar Jackson. Quote from this Scout.com article:
The 6-foot-3, 195-pound Jackson came in against Auburn in the second quarter and completed 9 of 20 passes for 106 yards and ran 16 times for 106 yards and one touchdown.
Louisville is currently listed as the favorites for the game by 12.5 points. Hopefully the Coogs can pull off the upset due to the Cardinals inexperience behind center. It’s time for the Coogs to make a strong statement that the Herman Era has truly arrived.
