Houston’s awesome new recruiting pitch to keep local players home

via @coachjonesfb

The Houston Cougars are pushing hard on building the “State of Houston”, as I’ve mentioned before, similar to the “State of Miami” with the Miami Hurricanes of the 1980’s. Coach Herman and the Cougars know that if they can keep many of the best high school football players in the city of Houston at home to play for the Coogs, the team will soon be able to dominate the region.

In the above photo, the Cougars staff is using a mockup issue of ESPN The Magazine to convince three local stars at Missouri City’s Hightower High School to stay in-town and play for the Coogs. I must say, it’s looking pretty sweet!

Here’s more info on Hightower’s Michael Johnson, Darta Lee, & Clifton Lewis. Hat tip to Hightower WR coach Edward Jones II for originally posting the image.

  1. Coogs could win a national championship solely with players from inside Beltway 8. Hermann has the charisma to pull it off eventually.
